Explaining how Nu Magick works is difficult - it isn’t ritual magick, it isn’t meditation, there are no magickal circles, or magickal weapons. What does tend to happen is that there is an expectation of something about to happen, usually suggested by the Spirits, but rarely do we know what it is. Here is an example from the last few days.
There have been hints for a number of days that something special was about to happen, but as usual, we did not know what. Experience has told me that it is pointless to speculate. As it happens, I was googling, doing some research on Spirits, and I came across some great stuff, real gold. I was so intent on study that it took a while for me to realise I was on a Christian website. That didn’t matter, as the material was from a long forgotten book by a missionary in Arabic countries. I have now got tons of work to study, and then I realised what the site was about. It is Right Wing Republican, complete with a list of great things done by the Americans in Iraq - a very out of date list, but who cares? It was the sort of list that you expected to see “No Iraqis were killed during the liberation by US Forces…”. Clearly, the reprints of the missionary book was there to ‘prove’ how ignorant and primitive Islam is. I will refrain from mentioning Creationism at this point, but I will point out that Islam had public street lighting and sophisticated hospitals while most of Europe were in the Dark Ages.
Reading the missionary book, I was reminded of the Spirits of Islam. Nu Magick has no dogma about religion - Jesus worked with spirits. When a fellow Nu Magickian came online, I told him about the site, and we discussed a few things. He told me he was expecting more spiritual work that evening, and I said I would help - of course not knowing what it was he had to do.
I went off to my local pub to hear the Blues. I was sitting by the fire, with a pint, listening to some great music, and then I became aware of a Presence, accompanied by another spirit. The atmosphere hadn’t changed, nobody around knew that anything was going on, but there they were. It was not immediately apparent who they were, but then his name came to me, Azazel! Azazel is one of the Great Spirits of Islam, mentioned in the Book of Enoch, and accompanied by Zemazaya, a Watcher. I haven’t yet gone back to the books to find out more about them, but they are here.
Later, after going home, I went to bed, and one of the main dreams that night was a ritual purification, very powerful.
