Nu Magick synthesises magick and spirituality to provide the platform for powerful spiritual development. The synthesis is so complete that it is almost impossible to separate Spirit from the Magick! I say “almost impossible” because firstly there is no need to do such a thing, and secondly, the integrity of the system is vital in the face of psychic and magical attack. I certainly have no interest in testing the system to breaking point, although I am sure I will have to deal with situations that do test to the limit.‘Nu’ obviously relates to the Goddess Nuit, who rules the starry skies, and it is closely identical to ‘new’, thus killing two birds with one stone. ‘Magick’ spelt Aleister Crowley’s way is also deliberate. The obsession with ‘will’ in Thelemite circles is so incredibly boring that I will desist from discussing it further, except to say that in Nu Magick, it is the harmonious development and union of the Will of the Magicians and the Spirits that I am talking about. NU represents the Death and Hierophant Tarot cards, and Scorpio and Taurus respectively. Both signs are fixed, and they are opposites. They also represent values of the Self and of other people. We have the opportunity to transform the hidden (Death) through teaching and authority (Hierophant). Niantiel and Vauretza may help here.
How does Nu Magick work? In a nutshell, either the Magician becomes aware of a spiritual or magickal problem, or he will be asked by Spirits to help on a problem. Either way, the Magickal and Spiritual Working will be a partnership with the Magicians and Spirits. I say Magicians in the plural, because often there will be several working on the problem together, even if they are on different continents. Clearly, distance is no barrier.
So, what is the payoff for successful resolution and solution of the problem? It is simple, the magician will gain valuable spiritual knowledge or insight, and the Spirits grow in strength and power. It is a powerful and advantageous circle of mutual benefit for Man and Spirits.
